Do I have to be a Lutheran to attend Camp Luther?

In a word, no. Most attendees are Lutherans but we also have many other denominations represented, both among the campers and the staff.

What should I bring?

A short list would include a bible, sleeping bag, pillow, clothes for 6 days, 2 pair of shoes (already broken-in), a poncho or umbrella, swim trunks/bathing suit, toiletries, at least one towel, medications (if needed), insect repellent, sunscreen, flashlight, a notebook, pen and/or pencil and a light jacket.

(A more extensive list will be sent with Welcome letter)

You say “clothes for 6 days”…what kind of weather should I pack for?

Camp Luther is located in Webster County, WV where the average high temperature during the week of Camp Luther is 80 degrees and the average low is 55. The normal wear ranges from shorts and tee-shirts during the day to blue jeans and long sleeve shirt in the evening. But bring a jacket, too. It’s not unheard of for a night in the 40′s.

Should I bring money?

A small amount of cash ($10 – $40) will come in handy should you wish to purchase anything from various canteens, crafts or the camp store (stamps, camp shirts, etc.)

What activities are there at Camp Luther?

The activities are many and varied. Activities include swimming, fishing, crafts, nature hikes, singing, basketball, four-square, soccer, kick ball, etc. Please look at our photo page to get a better idea of some of the things we do.

Can I bring my cell phone?

You may bring it but you may not use it during camp. If you need to get hold of someone during camp week you may ask your counselor and they will arrange for you to place the phone call.
