History

Camp Luther was founded in 1945 when the decision was made to create a camp for Appalachian youth where they could experience God, nature, and Christian fellowship.  Choosing Camp Caesar, a 4-H camp near Cowen, WV, as its location, the camp has grown to an annual attendance of 300 campers and 80 staff.

Through the years, Camp Luther has gone from admitting campers just out of the 4th through 10th grade to campers just out of the 3rd through 12th grade today.  And although the majority of attendees are Lutheran and from West Virginia we admit all denominations and have enjoyed the fellowship of people from as far away as Japan and Guam to Brazil and Germany.  Please feel free to explore our website and send any comments to Director@camplutherwv.com.
